TOLEDO, Ohio - The Falcons traveled to Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo, Ohio to take on the Akron Zips Saturday afternoon. The Falcons were forced to move the match indoors due to poor weather in Bowling Green. Improving their record to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the MAC, the Falcons clinched a 7-0 win over Akron.
Stepping up this weekend for the falcons was senior Susie Schoenberger. Coming off of a singles and doubles win against Buffalo, Schoenberger came back to again take the win at both the singles and doubles flights. Schoenberger combined with teammate Ashley Jakupcin to take the 8-1 decision over Mindy Price and Courtney Brenkus. Schoenberger competed at the number one singles flight to beat Courtney Brenkus 6-2, 6-4.
Other doubles victories included Andrea Meister and Andrea Volle with an 8-0 win against Jennifer Ales and Laura Hemlepp. Laura Kokinda and Ericka Wolfe teamed up to beat Vero Duchesne and Amy Sherlock 8-3.
Playing at number two singles, Ashley Jakupcin defeated Amy Sherlock 6-0, 6-2. Andrea Volle had a clean 6-0, 6-0 win over Mindy Price while Heidi Romer beat Laura Hemlepp 6-1, 6-0.
Andrea Meister and Cameron Benjamin completed the lineup for the Falcons. Meister took a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jennifer Ales while Benjamin competed against Vero Duchesne for a 6-2, 6-2 win.
The Falcons continue their home stretch with two matches next weekend. Bowling Green will compete against Eastern Michigan on Friday, April 8th and Toledo on Saturday, April 9th. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Keefe Courts.
