BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University softball program will offer a number of summer clinics from July 18-20. The Falcons will hold four sessions at the BGSU Softball Field, covering hitting, pitching, defensive fundamentals and positional play.
Falcon head coach Leigh Ross-Shaw, assistant coach Kyle Jamieson and a number of current and former BGSU players will be on hand at the session. Each session serves its own purpose, so girls interested in participating in multiple sessions are more than welcome to do so.
Ross-Shaw, Jamieson and the Falcons will offer a clinic on defensive fundamentals on Monday, July 18, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. This clinic, for girls in grades 3-8, has the objective of increasing the player's game knowledge while concentrating on the development of specific position play. All positions will be covered.
That afternoon, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., a clinic on position play will be offered for high school students.
On Tuesday, July 19, a hitting clinic will be held for all ages from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The clinic, featuring head coach Ross-Shaw, will offer a breakdown of hitting mechanics and drills designed to increase offensive consistency and power.
On Wednesday, July 20, assistant coach Jamieson will be featured at the pitching clinic, for all ages. This clinic, which will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon, will offer a fundamental lecture, personal instruction, demonstration and various station drills, all designed to teach and develop proper pitching mechanics.
The cost of each clinic is $50. Interested parties can sign up by printing and completing the attached pdf registration form. Individuals with questions, contact the softball office at (419) 372-7066 or 372-7159.
