MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Steven Wright made a 3-pointer at the buzzer - his second trey in the game's closing seconds - but it wasn't enough as Ball State rallied to hold off Bowling Green for a 62-61 victory on Saturday.
Ball State (5-9, 1-5 Mid-American Conference) trailed most of the game, falling behind by as many as nine points with 10:28 left in the second half before rallying in the last six minutes for the win. The Cardinals finished the game on a 26-16 run.
Skip Mills hit a jumper with 3:52 to go to put Ball State ahead 58-52. Bowling Green pulled within 60-58 with nine seconds to play on a Wright 3-pointer, but Mills responded with two free throws to put Ball State back up by four with four seconds left.
Wright then hit his 3-pointer as time expired for the game's final margin.
Bowling Green (7-9, 3-3 Mid-American Conference), which led 30-26 at the half, was led by Wright, who finished with 16 points. Martin Samarco added 15
Mills finished with 14 points for the Cardinals and had nine rebounds. Anthony Newell scored 10 and D'Andre Peyton added nine.
