BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The men's and women's cross country team will travel to Buffalo, New York to compete at the MAC Championships. The weather might not be in any competitors favor with showers and winds expected in the forecast. Plus the leftover snow from a few weeks ago may prove trouble for all runners this weekend.
The Falcons are prepped and ready for what they have been working for this entire season. Both teams have done the work necessary to compete this weekend.
"Both teams are looking forward to the opportunity to compete at the MAC meet this weekend," said head coach Cami Wells. "Practices have been going very well the past two weeks and I am confident that both teams are ready to race on Saturday."
Both teams have an outstanding runner leading them. Eddie Kipchoge leads the men. He has won four races (Toledo Dual, Mel Brodt, All-Ohio, Falcon Invitational) this season and for that he has been honored with three MAC Runner of the Week awards. For the women, it's Jamie Roflow who won two races (Toledo Dual, Mel Brodt), was the Division I All-Ohio Champion, and was honored with two MAC Runner of the Week awards.
The teams are focusing on closing the gaps between runners, which will be essential for them at the Championships.
"Each person is focused on reaching their individual goals and contributing to the ultimate team success," said Wells. "The team competition should be very exciting with many evenly matched teams it comes down to who wants it the most on meet day."
