BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - DeAndre Haynes scored 21 points to lead Kent State to an 82-66 win over Bowling Green on Tuesday night.
The Golden Flashes (20-7, 13-2 Mid-American Conference) took a half-game lead over Akron in the MAC East Division. Akron plays Miami (Ohio) Wednesday and Ohio on Saturday. Kent State plays Miami on Saturday.
The Falcons (9-17, 5-10) tied it at 23 with 5 minutes to play in the first half, but Kent State went on a 9-2 run to end the half and led by at least five the rest of the way.
Bowling Green shot 55 percent from the field but turned the ball over 22 times and had just three offensive rebounds.
Martin Samarco led Bowling Green with 19 points, Mawel Soler added 15, Erik Marschall had 14 and John Floyd had 10. Armon Gates had 19 for Kent, Jay Youngblood had 18 and Kevin Warzynski added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
