Bowling Green, Ohio - (AP)John Floyd hit a pair of free throws and Steven Wright made two out of four in the final 28 seconds to let Bowling Green survive a furious Eastern Michigan rally for a 73-71 win Tuesday night.
Carlos Medlock scored a game-high 22 points for the Eagles but missed a jumper with 2 seconds left that would have tied it.
Martin Samarco led Bowling Green (9-13, 5-7 Mid-American) with 20 points. The Falcons also got 17 points off the bench from Wright and 12 from Floyd.
John Bowler had 20 points, 17 rebounds and five assists for Eastern Michigan (5-15, 2-10).
The Falcons, who never trailed in the game, led 61-47 with 6:54 to go and appeared to seal the game with 1:09 to go on a pair of free throws by Samarco which made it 69-61.
Two turnovers on the full court press allowed the Eagles to complete a 22-9 run over the final seven minutes to make the score 70-69 with 30 seconds to go after a Bowler free throw setting up the final outcome as BGSU made three of four free throws and pressured Medlock, who scored on another layup with 13 seconds left to make it 72-71, into a desperation shot out of the right corner that was knocked away as players scrambled for the loose ball as time expired.
BGSU led by as many as 18 in the first half at 36-18 with 2:58 to go before intermission. The Eagles scored the next seven points to get back in the game, but a steal by sophomore Perrick Robinson who fed Wright for a dunk at the end of the half gave the Falcons a 38-25 lead at halftime.
