BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Tim Pollitz's 18 points and game-high six assists and eight rebounds led Miami to a 73-59 win over Bowling Green on Wednesday night.
William Hatcher added 17 points, with three 3-pointers and five assists for the RedHawks (17-9, 13-4 Mid-American Conference). Nathan Peavy scored 11 and Chad Troyer added 10.
Martin Samarco led the Falcons (9-19, 5-12) with 24 points, including three 3-pointers. Mawel Soler added 10 points.
The RedHawks, who took the lead for good 3:49 into the game, were ahead 37-23 going into the second half and preserved that margin.
The Falcons used a 17-2 run from the 16:31 mark of the second half to the 8:49 to pull within 47-46. Junior John Floyd stole the ball and headed downcourt but had the ball stripped from him near the Falcon basket. Miami's Chad Troyer hit a three-pointer to make it 50-46 and BGSU could get no closer.
The RedHawks shot 25-of-44 from the floor and 14-of-18 from the free-throw line. Bowling Green hit 18 of 38 from the floor and 18 of 27 free throws.
Wioth five three-pointers, BGSU established a new single season record with 209 for a single campaign breaking the old mark of 204 set by the 1996-97 squad.
BGSU will close out the regular season at Ohio at 2 p.m. on Saturday. BGSU currently is the 10th seed in next week's MAC Tournament and would play at Toledo on Monday if the event started today. The Falcons could move up to the ninth spot and possibly could wind up at Buffalo or stay and play Ohio again depending on Saturday's action across the MAC.
