BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green (7-8) struck first with a score in the third inning. Senior Jay Threet began the inning with a single to left field. After a sacrifice bunt advanced Threet to second, Junior Eric Lawson recorded his second of three hits on the day, an RBI-single.
A third-inning error by Bowling Green proved to be costly as the Purple Aces capitalized on the mistake by scoring three unearned runs. Evansville's Jeremy Kuester highlighted the inning with a double down the left field line that drove home two runs.
The Falcons fell just short on a few rallies, including the fifth inning in which three runners were stranded. A Ben Norton "K" ended the rally, the Purple Aces' starter compiled eight strikeouts in earning the win.
BGSU surrenderd two more runs in the eighth, falling behind 5-1. The top of the ninth looked promising after back-to-back singles by Junior Jeff Telmanik and Sophomore Andrew Foster started the inning. However, the next three Falcons were retired, ending the game.
The Brown and Orange only get one day off before getting back to action. Bowling Green is scheduled to play at Youngstown State on Tuesday, March 21st at 3:00 PM.
