BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - For the second time this weekend, BGSU fell victim to a three-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth. This time it was Akron's Kurt Davidson who ended the game with a walk-off homerun, winning 4-2.
The Falcon lineup never got going in Sunday's contest, recording a season-low three hits on the day. In fact, both squads struggled offensively as the score was stuck at 0-0 until the seventh inning.
With two runners in scoring position, Junior Eric Lawson sent a pitch down the right field line, handing the Falcons a two run lead in the seventh.
Freshman Marty Baird tamed the Akron lineup for most the game, allowing just one run in eight inning pitched. The Findlay, Ohio native also managed to strike out six batters.
However, Akron chipped the lead in half with the lone run off of Baird in the eighth inning. With the score at 2-1 and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Davidson delivered the fatal blow with a homer to left field.
The Brown and Orange get back to action on Wednesday, April 26th at 5:05 PM in South Bend, Indiana for a showdown with nationally-ranked Notre Dame.
