BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team struggled to get the offense going in a 6-1 loss to Miami (21-22, 9-9 MAC) Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Falcons fall to 22-20 overall and 9-9 in Mid American Conference play.
Freshman Marty Baird was rolling early, recording five strikeouts in the first three innings, before eventually suffering the loss by allowing four runs (three earned) in six innings of work.
The RedHawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four and half innings. BGSU then attempted a rally in the bottom of the sixth as Sophomore Andrew Foster hit a bases-loaded single to drive home Bowling Green's first run of the game. Unfortunately, the next Falcon batter hit a groundball to end the threat.
Miami added two more runs in eighth to make the final 6-1 score.
The Falcons get a brief exam week break before getting back to action on Friday, May 5th. Bowling Green will welcome Kent State to Warren Steller Field for a three-game weekend series.
