Cross Country Adds Tiffin Open To Its Schedule

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country teams have added the Tiffin Open to their schedule, which will take place Fri., Oct. 19 in Tiffin, Ohio. The event will start off at 4:30 p.m. with the men's 5K race and will followed by the women's 3K race at 5:00 p.m.
The two teams are coming off a successful Falcon Invitational this past Saturday morning at Forrest Creason Golf Course that saw the Falcon women, now ranked 14th in the Great Lakes Regional Division I poll, earn a third place finish, while the Falcon men finished ninth. Sophomore Eddie Kipchoge (Eldoret, Kenya) earned his second individual title of the fall in the event and the sixth of his career, as he ran his second-best collegiate time, coming across the line in 24:41.64. On the women's end, freshmen Ashley Fischer and Barbara Powers finished 14th and 15th respectively with times of 18:25.64 and 18:28.61.
The Falcon women had seven runners place in the top 50 in the event and 13 in the top 100. The Falcon men would finish with five runners in the top 100, as freshman Chris Moody ran a new personal-best time of 26:46.79 to finish in the 42nd position, which would be the second-best time for the Falcon men on the day.
Both teams will then return to action on Sat., Oct. 27, when they head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take part in the Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Central Michigan University. The MAC championships will begin with the women's race at 11 a.m., while the men will race at 12 p.m.
