BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team, in conjunction with the Athletic Department, will host American Cancer Society Day at Mickey Cochrane Field as a part of the Falcon Friendzy. The outreach project on October 24, 2007 will coincide with the Falcons last non-conference match of the season as the Orange and Brown host the University of Detroit Mercy. Kick-off for the match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
Donations for the ACS will be accepted throughout the match at the Ohio Army National Guard Marketing Kiosk. Literature from the ACS will also be available as well as stickers and temporary tattoos.
Hand-made beaded bracelets that benefit the ACS's annual Relay for Life event will be sold for $10 at the kiosk while an autograph session with the Falcons will directly follow the match.
"We are looking forward to not only giving the fans a competitive match to watch, but also helping to bring a cause to light that obviously deserves our attention," said head coach Fred Thompson. "The fact that this issues hits so close to home makes the day that much more important not only to the team, but to the entire Falcon Soccer family."
The day was inspired by a Bowling Green State University player whose father is a prostate cancer survivor.
All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear Orange in support of the Falcons week long `ORANGE OUT WEEK' celebration.
Additionally, all BGSU Greek organizations are encouraged to attend the match as it will serve as a maximum points day for the Greek Cup Attendance Challenge.
