AMHERST, N.Y. (AP) - Quarterback Tyler Sheehan threw for two touchdowns and caught a third on a 25-yard reverse pass from Anthony Turner as Bowling Green beat Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference on Saturday.
Sheehan was 20-of-29 throwing for 248 yards for Bowling Green (7-4, 5-2). Turner gained 97 yards on 22 carries.
Buffalo (4-7, 4-3) couldn't contain Bowling Green's four- and five-receiver sets. The Falcons spread offense piled up 413 yards, 273 through the air.
Freddie Barnes caught 10 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown while Chris Wright had four receptions, one for an 83-yard score.
After Drew Willy's third quarter, 17-yard touchdown pass to Ernest Jackson narrowed the gap to 31-17, the Bulls drove to the 1 and threatened to make it a one-possession game. But on third-and-goal, Willy tripped coming out of the center exchange and landed on the 4.
Willy completed a quick slant to Naaman Roosevelt on fourth down, but linebacker Glen Stanley killed the threat by wrapping up Roosevelt up at the 3. Willy was 19-of-32 for 210 yards and 1 touchdown. Roosevelt had six receptions for 148 yards.
Bowling Green scored on its first possession, driving 68 yards nine plays after the opening kickoff.
Sheehan completed 4 of 5 attempts in the opening drive and Turner bulled it the final 2 yards. Buffalo answered with A.J. Principe's 27-yard field goal and got a boost when Alex Pierre blocked Nick Iovenelli's punt for a drive starting at the Bowling Green 44 yard line. James Starks, who gained 140 yards on 21 attempts, carried the ball the final five yards as the Bulls led 10-7.
After Sinisa Vrvillos 40-yard field goal tied the score, Sheehan completed a swing pass to Barnes, who broke several Buffalo tacklers for a 44-yard touchdown and a 17-10 lead.
