Bowling Green Drops Road Contest at Northern Illinois

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) - James Hughes came off the bench to score 14 points while leading Northern Illinois to a 73-51 win over Bowling Green on Wednesday night.
The Huskies (5-17, 2-8 Mid-American) led by only four, 34-30, at halftime. But a Hughes jumper with 13:44 remaining ignited a 29-5 run during the next 11 minutes that put the game well out of reach.
Northern Illinois shot 53.1 percent from the floor for the game, led by Hughes' 6-of-8 performance. Bowling Green shot 39.6 percent from the field, including 2-of-10 from 3-point range.
The Falcons (11-12, 2-8) went 0-for-6 from behind the arc in the second half. Ryne Hamblet led their scorers with 11 points.
Zach Pancratz scored 13 points for the Huskies, and Ryan Paradise added 11 points and four assists.
Northern Illinois scored 25 points off 21 Bowling Green turnovers.
