Falcons Downed 7-3 by Eastern Michigan

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team scored the first three runs of the game before seeing Eastern Michigan notch the next seven runs for a 7-3 defeat Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Brian Hangbers belted a laser into center field to begin the second inning with a single. Senior Kurt Wells then drew a walk to put two runners aboard for Sophomore Brandon McFarland. The left-handed McFarland went opposite field with a drive over the wall in left-center field for the three-run homerun, his second homer of the season.
Eastern Michigan responded with three runs of their own the very next half inning. EMU catcher Derek Lehrman hit a two-run homer that cleared the fence at nearly the exact same point as McFarland's.
EMU continued to push runners across the plate with a pair of runs in hte sixth and one score in the eighth and ninth innings.
Bowling Green placed runners on the bases but were unable to drive them home, stranding two runners on base in the fifth and eighth.
Hangbers kept his bat hot, recording three hits for the second straight game. Junior Nick Cantrell was burdened with the loss after allowing five runs in 5.2 innings. Junior Dan Horvath worked the mound for the final 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
