Falcons Down the Dukes, 3-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons continued their success against Duquesne University with a decisive three game win over the Dukes (30-28, 30-16, 30-20). The Falcons dominated their second straight match hitting a .336 and holding the Dukes to .128 hitting percentage.
The Falcons jumped out to a huge lead in the game one with seven straight points to open the match. The Falcons held the lead the whole game extending it to as much as eight points at one time. The Dukes fought back and tied the game up 26-26 after a six Duke run. The Falcons fought for every point finishing off game one, 30-28 with a kill from Corey Domek assisted by Sam Fish
Game two started off much closer with the Falcons down one 5-6 they put together a five point run started by a Madeline Means kill, which gave the Falcons a 10-6 lead. Once the Falcons got the lead they didn't relinquish it all game. The Falcons scored 10 of the last 15 points winning game two again with a kill from Domek assisted by Fish, 30-16. The Falcons dominated game one hitting .389 with 16 kills compared to the Duke -.025.
Game three was very similar to the first two in that once the Falcons took the lead they never gave it up and kept attacking the Dukes. The Falcons finished game three, 30-20. The Falcons' offense was huge in game three as well hitting a .324 compared to the .088 they kept the Dukes to.
The Falcons had everyone contributing on the court for the second straight match. Leading the way on offense were the two left sides Domek and Madeline Means each putting away 12 kills. Meghan Mohr added nine kills for the Falcons with no errors hitting a .562 against the Dukes. Fish was also error free recording seven kills hitting a .636. Fish once again ran the offense collecting 30 assists. Chelsey was huge on defense picking up 20 digs during the match.
The Falcons 2-0 in the Best Western Tournament and 7-5 overall will finish the tournament tonight (Sept. 15) and look to defend their home court against the Valparaiso University Crusaders also 2-0 at 7:00 p.m. EST. The winner of the match will take home the Best Western Tournament Championship.
