
Falcons Fall to Bobcats, 3-1

ATHENS, Ohio - Despite winning the first set the Bowling Green State University volleyball team fell to the Ohio Bobcats, tonight 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 13-25, 20-25) ending the Falcons seven match winning streak. The Falcons fall to 21-8 overall and 10-4 the Mid-American Conference tied with Miami for second place in the MAC East Division.
The Ohio Bobcats got started early taking a 6-3 lead after scoring points in a row, but the Falcons answered back with back-to-back three-point runs to tie the set up 9-9. The Falcons captured the lead, 15-11 after four straight points started by a kill from Kendra Halm. BG maintained their lead for awhile but Ohio never gave up posting a three-point run followed up with a four-point run to take a 23-22 lead. The Falcons ended the Bobcats run with a kill from Louise Facca and took the last three points to win the first set, 25-23. Halm once again had an error free set with five kills and no errors in eight attempts, posting an impressive .625 hitting percentage.
Ohio came right back in the second set with an early five-point run to take an 11-5 lead over the Falcons. The Falcons fought back cutting the Bobcats lead to three 15-12 after four straight points, but Ohio strung together their own four-point run to extend their lead to seven, 19-12. The Falcons sided-out off of a kill from Meghan Mohr and then tallied four straight points to cut Ohio's lead to three but the Bobcats kept the up with the Falcons as they once again came back with their own run of four straight points taking a 23-16 lead. The Falcons dropped the second set, 25-17.
With the match tied up 1-1 the Bobcats took their moment from the second set and grabbed an early 7-2 lead after back-to-back runs. The Bobcats continued to score points in a row extending their lead to 10 over the Falcons after four straight points. The Falcons continued to fight but weren't able to over come the Bobcats falling 25-13 in the third set.
The Falcons got going much quicker in the fourth set after a three-point run to take a 5-3 lead. However, Ohio came back with multiple runs to get past the Falcons taking a 15-11 lead. The Falcons continued to try to chip away at the Bobcats' lead but a three-point Ohio run extended their lead to seven, 23-17. Ohio was able to secure set point, 24-17 but BG never gave up fighting off three set points, however the Falcons didn't have enough to overcome the Bobcats losing the fourth set, 25-20.
The Falcon offense was once again led by Halm with nine kills posting a .207 hitting percentage. Corey Domek and Mohr were also just shy of double-digits on offense each recording eight kills.
The Falcons had three players in double-digits on defense as Chelsey Meek lead the way with 22 digs, her 86th consecutive match of 10-plus digs. Susie Isphording and Sam Fish both also picked up 10 digs each. Fish also handed out 28 assists to go with her double-digit dig performance recording her eighth double-double of the season.
The Falcons will return to action as they wrap-up their season at home in Anderson Arena against Buffalo (Nov. 14) and Akron (Nov. 15).
