
Falcons Sit in 15th After 18 Holes of Rio Verde

RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Bowling Green State University women's golf team fired a 316 in the opening round of the 2008 Rio Verde Collegiate International to sit in 15th place through 18 holes of action. The 316 was the Falcons' second lowest round of the 2007-08 season.
The tournament, which will feature 54 holes (18 holes a day) allows each team to play six golfers, counting just four rounds.
The Falcons were led by a pair of seniors in Amanda Bader and Jessica McCann, both carding 78's in the opening round. Bader's round was her second-best score of the season, while McCann's round was two strokes under her season average.
Freshman Lauren Glew was just one stroke off the senior duo's pace, firing a 79. It was the sixth time this season the freshman has scored a sub-80 round.
Sophomore Hannah Lambert was fourth on the team with a 9-over-par, 81. The 81 was her third-best score of the season.
Rounding out the Falcon participants were another pair of seniors in Carley Hrusovsky and Lindsey Jonkhoff. Both shot 83.
Round two begins Saturday, with the final round taking place Sunday.
