URBANA, Ill. - The Illini Spring Classic opened with 18 holes on Friday, rather than the scheduled 36 holes, and the Bowling Green State University women's golf team sits in 13th place after carding a 354. Temperatures in the 30s and strong wind gusts forced play to be halted after a single round. The final 36 holes of the tournament are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The Falcons were led by senior Carley Hrusovsky, who carded an 87 (40-47) in the tough weather conditions. Hrusovsky currently sits in a tie for 50th. Not far off of her pace were fellow classmates Jessica McCann (43-45) and Lindsey Jonkhoff (45-43), who both carded 88's to sit in a tie for 53rd.
Also competing for the Orange and Brown were senior Amanda Bader (91, T-63rd) and freshman Lauren Glew (94, T-73rd).
The final 36 holes of action will begin Saturday morning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
