ROUND 1 COURSE STATS
After the first round of the 36-hole University of Dayton Fall Invitational, the Bowling Green State University women's golf team is in position to capture their second top-three finish in just their sixth tournament of the season.
The Falcons enter the second and final round of the tournament in a three-way tie for third place with Ohio University and Evansville. Their score of 327 for the day is tied for the team's third-best score of the season's 12 rounds to date.
At the par-70, 6,836-yard NCR Country Club North Course, the Orange and Brown finished ten shots behind Cincinnati, the tournament leaders after one round. UC carded a 317 for the day. Detroit Mercy finished second, five shots ahead of the Falcons.
The University of Dayton is in sixth place in the tournament's ten-team field after scoring 335 for the day, eight shots behind Bowling Green. Chicago State is seventh with a score of 361. IUPUI carded a 362 for eighth place. Valparaiso rounded out the field with a mark of 394.
Individually, the Falcons have three players in the top 20 of the 53-player field, and all five of Bowling Green's golfers are in the top 30.
Senior Hannah Lambert leads the Orange and Brown with a first round score of 80. Lambert is just four shots off the lead and is tied for seventh place. She is followed very closely by junior Lauren Glew. Glew's score of 81 is good for 12th place and is just five shots behind the leader.
Freshman Susannah Grunden is aiming for another top 15 finish as she carded an 82 over the first 18 holes. At six shots behind the leader, she is in contention along with Lambert and Glew. Grunden is currently tied for 13th.
In her second tournament of the year, sophomore Paula DiFrancesco had another successful round after scoring 84. She is tied for 25th place. Rounding out the action for the Falcons was senior Megan Gormley, whose 85 is tied for 27th place.
Megan Weaver (Ohio U.) leads the pack with a first-day score of 76. One shot behind is Kate Moore of Cincinnati (77). One player each from Evansville and Detroit are tied for third at 78 and tied for fifth at 79.
The final round of the tournament will be played tomorrow, October 20th. A full recap and final results will be posted shortly after completion of the round.
