Kelsey Benson Is Ranked In FIfth Among All Indiana HS Golfers by Junior Golf Scoreboard
Falcons Sign Two For 2010-11 Season

Stephanie Young, head coach of the Bowling Green State University women's golf team, has announced the signings of two players to National Letters of Intent. Both players will join the Falcons for the 2010-11 season.
Cincinnati, Ohio native Bailey Arnold joins the Falcons from Seton High School. The holder of every record at Seton High, Arnold was named the 2009 GGCL Player of the Year and earned first-team All-League honors. Maintaining a 37 average, she was medalist in all but one tournament during her senior season.
Arnold was medalist at the 2009 Sectionals at the Fairfield Golf Club, with a score of 74. At the 2009 OHSAA State Tournament, Arnold finished in a tenth-place tie among all individuals. She is currently ranked seventh in Ohio by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
In her junior year, Arnold also qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament and finished fourth. She was also earned GGCL Player of the Year honors.
Also a member of her high school girls basketball team, Arnold maintains a 3.8 GPA and plans to major in pre-med, with the intent of becoming a physician's assistant. She and her sister Molly are the daughters of Lou and Michele Arnold.
"Bailey is a very hard-working, mentally tough, talented student-athlete," said head coach Stephanie Young. "Her attitude and work ethic are contagious, and she is a natural leader." Young added, "I look forward to her transition into the college game and helping our program reach the next level."
Kelsey Benson will also join the Orange and Brown for the 2010-11 season. Benson hails from Martinsville, Indiana and attends Martinsville High School. Benson averaged 76 during her senior campaign, which included a phenomenal round of 68 at the Hall of Fame Invitational at the Greensburg Country Club. Her accomplishments have earned a ranking of fifth in the state of Indiana by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
At the 2009 Indiana State Championships, Benson's 11th place 160 (80-80) helped lead Martinsville to their second state championship in three seasons. Following the tournament, she was selected as the winner of the Mental Attitude Award. The honor, given by the IHSAA Executive Committee, is given to the outstanding senior at the state championships. The award recognizes mental attitude, leadership, scholarship, and athletic ability.
A four-year letterwinner, Benson earned a place in the Championship Flight Finals at the 59th Indiana Girls State Junior Championships. She qualified by carding a score of 159 (84-75). Benson defeated three competitors before falling 4&2 in the final match.
Benson is involved with student government, as well as the National Honor Society. She also participates with the student newspaper and numerous other clubs and activities. Benson's 4.0 GPA ranks first in her class, and she plans on being a pre-med major with the intent of becoming a sport psychiatrist. She and her sister Andrea are the daughters of Jeff and Katrina Benson.

Young continued, "Benson is a class act wherever she goesand is, without a doubt, the total package. I look forward to watching her success for years to come."

Both student-athletes have proven themselves in the classroom and on the golf course. Most importantly, they are outstanding young women who will continue to represent BGSU and our women's golf program in a first-class manner." Young concluded, "Both Bailey and Kelsey will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact for the program and on campus. With the signing of this class, it creates a stronger team and adds more depth to our lineup."
