Falcon Club Membership Hits Record Levels
August 05, 2009 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green athletic department has announced that the Falcon Club set records in 2008-09 for total members and giving, with 1,675 members and $594,762 in total giving. Both figures are increases of more than five percent from 2007-08. The Falcon Club is responsible for raising annual support dollars for the department's 18 athletic programs.
“The Falcon Club totals are a credit to our fans,” Athletics Director Greg Christopher said. “We have a great team supporting our student-athletes. From coaches and staff to our alumni and fans, everyone has a role and everyone helps make a difference. I also tip my cap to our entire development team. They have worked hard and responded to the need of growing our Falcon Club base.”
Along with those numbers, a number of initiatives have met, or are close to meeting, their goals. The Badenhop Challenge is closing in on a goal of 100 new young alumni. As well, there were 16 Champion Circle top level donors (giving in excess of $9,000 annually), far exceeding the original goal.
“Annual giving is the true lifeblood of any successful Division I athletics program,” Jane Myers, the Director of the Falcon Club, said. “I am extremely proud of the record number of members who have chosen to join the 'Team Behind The Teams' this year.”
The Falcon Club, which has been in existence for 46 years, is the umbrella fundraising organization for Bowling Green State University athletics. Fans and alumni who wish to donate to support Falcon student-athletes can give to any of the individual 18 sports or to the scholarship fund. Members also participate with coaches and student-athletes in various events throughout the year.
The 2009 Membership Madness drive is set to begin Aug. 25 and will last for six weeks. More than 60 Falcon Club member volunteers will be recruiting members for the Falcon Club. For more information or to become a member, visit BGSUFalcons.com.
