Bowling Green State University women's basketball junior Tracy Pontius has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Jan. 25). Pontius earns the honor for the first time this season and the second time in her Falcon career.

Pontius, a native of Morton, Ill. (Morton H.S.), averaged 21.5 points per game as the Falcons swept a pair of contests at venerable Anderson Arena last week. BGSU downed Miami, 85-65, and Eastern Michigan, 83-71, at "The House That Roars."
Pontius had a season-high 27 points as the Falcons completed the first round-robin swing through the East Division with Tuesday's (Jan. 19) win over Miami. She added three assists, two rebounds and a game-high total of four steals against the RedHawks, hitting four three-point field goals in the victory.
On Saturday (Jan. 23), Pontius led the Brown and Orange with 16 points against EMU, adding a pair of rebounds, three assists and two steals.
On the week, Pontius shot .519 from the field, going 6-of-14 (.429) from three-point land, and averaged 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game to lead the Falcons in both categories. She has 13.6 points and 3.2 assists per game this season, and is averaging 17.2 ppg in MAC games.
Pontius earned this week's MAC Player-of-the-Week honor for the East Division, while Marke Freeman of Northern Illinois was named the MAC P-O-W in the West.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, 16-4 overall and 6-0 in MAC play, conclude a season-long three-game homestand with a Wednesday (Jan. 27) game vs. Western Michigan. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Anderson.
