
Dee Brown Scores Career High 22 In Loss To Detroit

Detroit, Mich. – Junior guard Dee Brown scored a career-high 22 points but the Bowling Green men's basketball team lost to Detroit 71-62 Saturday evening in the Legends Classic.
Brown was 10-of-18 shooting and added two assists and a steal in 36 minutes, but the Falcons were unable to come back from an 18-point second half deficit. Bowling Green trailed by seven at the half and Detroit continued to extend the lead until the Falcons fought back over the final nine minutes.
Detroit almost blew the game open in the first half, taking a 31-16 lead on a John Hoskins jumper with 3:37 to go. But Scott Thomas answered back with a three-pointer and Brown scored on a jumper and a three-pointer with two seconds remaining to cut the deficit to seven at 31-24 by the break.
In the second half, Detroit picked it back up and led 52-34 with 8:48 to go on a Chase Simon three-pointer. But Bowling Green went on a 10-2 run over the next 2:24 to cut the deficit to 10 with 6:24 to play. Mike Dabney, playing his first extended minutes of the year, scored on a three-point play with 5:59 left to get the Falcons within nine. But Bowling Green never got closer than that down the stretch.
Detroit had five players score in double figures, while Bowling Green had nobody after Brown. Oglesby finished with eight points and seven rebounds and Thomas and Jordon Crawford had six each. Thomas also had five assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Dabney came off the bench to provide five points, four rebounds, a block and a steal in 13 minutes.
Bowling Green falls to 1-5 on the year and will play Albany Sunday at 3 p.m. Detroit improves to 3-3 on the year.
