Rosales, a native of Aurora, Colo. (Smoky Hill H.S.), had a goals-against average of just 0.45 last week, as the Falcons went 1-0-1 in a pair of road games to end the regular season. BGSU battled IUPUI to a 0-0, double-overtime draw on Wednesday (Nov. 3), then picked up a 2-1 win at Florida Atlantic on Saturday night (Nov. 6). The win over the Owls put the Falcons into the MAC Tournament.
Rosales, in his first season at BGSU after transferring from the University of Cincinnati, had three saves at IUPUI en route to his sixth shutout of the season, the most by a Falcon 'keeper since 2001.
Then, on Saturday, Rosales had three more stops in the win at FAU. The Falcons needed a win or a tie against the Owls to clinch a berth in the league tourney.
On the year, Rosales has a MAC-leading total of 73 saves and a GAA of 1.43. In the Falcons' six MAC regular-season matches, his GAA was just 1.00.
The Falcons of coach Eric Nichols, 6-8-3 overall and 3-3-0 in MAC play, have earned the third seed for the MAC Tournament, and will face second-seeded Western Michigan in Friday night's (Nov. 12) semifinal round in Akron, Ohio. The BGSU-WMU match will be the second semifinal of the evening, as top-seeded Akron will host fourth-seeded Buffalo in the opener. The UA-UB match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m., with the BGSU-WMU game set to start at 8:00 p.m.
