Six membe
rs of the Bowling Green State University football team were named to the Mid-American All-Conference team this morning (Dec. 1), announced by the league office. Kamar Jorden earned first-team honors, followed by Dwayne Woods, Bryan Wright and Eugene Cooper all earning second team, while Chris Jones and Willie Geter were named to the All-MAC third team.
The six honored Falcons were two more than last year's four, which included Freddie Barnes (first team), Jimmy Scheidler (second team), Tyler Sheehan (third team) and Shane Steffy (third team).
Cooper, Jorden, Jones and Woods will return for 2011, while Geter
and Wright concluded their BGSU careers back on Nov. 26 versus Western Michigan.
Jorden, a native of Darby, Pa., is the second straight Falcon wide receiver to earn first team All-MAC status, following Freddie Barnes' record setting 2009. Jorden wasn't bad himself, leading the conference with 96 receptions and finishing third with 1,109 yards. His 96 grabs for 1,109 yards were both third-best in school history. He caught at least five passes in 10 games and had five 100-yard efforts on the season, second most 100-yard games in school history (Barnes had nine in 2009). Jorden's top performance of the season came at Tulsa, coming away with 14 catches for 168 yards. He also caught 12 balls for 143 yards at Temple and added eight catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns at Ohio.
Woods had one of the best seasons ever by a Falcon defender, leading the conference with 134 tackles. He added six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions in 12 games. Woods' 134 tackles were the 13th most in school history and were tied for sixth in the nation in 2010. The sophomore had at least seven tackles in all 12 games and recorded double-digit tackles six times. He had a career-high 20 stops versus Buffalo and had eight tackles and a 78-yard interception return for a touchdown in the win over Marshall.

While Wright spent just one year with the Orange and Brown, he made an instant impact. Wright finished fifth in the MAC with a 40.5 yard average on 67 attempts. He downed 22 punts inside the opponent's 20-yardline and had 10 punts that went over 50 yards.
Cooper, like Wright, was in his first year with the Falcons after spending two years at Hudson Valley Community College. Cooper earned Second-Team All-MAC as a punt return specialist after leading the conference with an 11.5 yard average on 19 returns. He also ranked 21st in the nation and was one of just five players in the country to have multiple punt returns for scores in 2010. In his first game as a Falcon he broke free for a 63-yard touchdown versus Troy to give BGSU a 24-17 lead early in the th
ird quarter. He added his second touchdown of the season on a 71-yard return versus Toledo.
Jones, a native of Brownsburg, Ind., started all 12 games for the Falcons, ending the season with 39 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. His top performance of the year came in a 17-14 win at Central Michigan, a game where he record 5.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. For his efforts he was named the National Defensive Lineman of the Week by the College Football Performance Award.
Geter, a 2010 captain, finished the year with a career-high 718 yards on the ground and chipped in with six touchdowns. The senior from Miami, Fla., added 31 receptions for 236 yards and a score through the air for a combined 954 total yards. Geter had two 100-yard games this season, both Falcon wins. He had 100 yards (on 31 carries) and added 86 yards receiving in a win over Marshall and posted 103 yards (on 26 carries) on the ground at Central Michigan.
