Akron, Ohio—The Bowling Green State University women's swim team had a strong showing against the Akron Zips but were unable to capitalize on individual performances for a Falcon win in their last regular season meet of the 2009-10 season. Akron defeated BGSU 183 to 111. With the loss, the Falcons drop to 1-6 in Mid-American Conference competition and the Zips improve to 2-5.
On the night, the Falcons finished in the top three on 23 different occasions and finished in first-place three times, including a first, second and third-place finish by Amanda Rom, Alexis Kain and Katie Womack in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Rom took top honors in the event, finishing the race in 2:26.01, while teammates Kain and Womack came in behind her for second and third place finishes, posting times of 2:26.27 and 2:28.14, respectively.
