Falcons Tune-up for MAC Championships With Rutherford Intercollegiate

The Bowling Green State University men's golf team will travel to State College, Pa., for the Rutherford Intercollegiate on on Apr. 24-25. Following the 54-hole event the Orange and Brown will compete in the MAC Championships on Apr. 29 through May 1.
Recap Last Action
The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished 11th at the UK Bluegrass Invitational with a 54-hole score of 878 (290-287-301). The two-day event took place at the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
After round two was suspended due to darkness the Falcons' shot a three-over 287 in round two, but slipped a bit in the final round, carding a 301.
Murray State (850) won the tournament, followed by Memphis (851) and Auburn (851). Fellow Mid-American Conference schools Miami (853), Toledo (868), Ohio (876) and Akron (879) finished fourth, eighth, tenth and 13th. A total of 24 schools participated in the 54-hole event.
Matt Schnedier led the Falcons with a 3-over par, 216, to finish in a tie for 25th. The senior opened with a 72 and finished with a 70-74 on Sunday.
Fellow classmate John Powers was not far off, finishing with a 218. The Bowling Green, Ohio, native carded rounds of 70-74-74 to finish in a tie for 34th.
Parker Hewit had the Falcons' lowest round of the tournament, carding a 68 in round two. The sophomore finished in a tie for 39th with a score of 219 (73-68-78).
Also competing for BGSU were Wes Gates (226, T-87th) and Drew Preston (228, T-96th).
Falcons Still Rank Towards the Top
The Falcons will enter this weekend's tournament with a scoring average of 295.38, currently the lowest scoring average in school history. The current BGSU record is held by the 2007-08 squad that averaged 296.00 per round.
According to www.mac-sports.com the Falcons' Drew Preston, Matt Schneider and John Powers all rank in the top-25 in scoring averages. Schneider is ninth with an average of 73.15, followed by Powers (74.04, 23rd) and Preston (74.08, 24th).
