Falcons Sit in the Middle of the Pack After Day One of Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic

The Bowling Green State University men's golf team fired a 36-hole score of 613 on day one of the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic to sit in eighth-place among the 15-team field.
The host, Wichita State, leads the tournament with a score of 582, followed by Oklahoma City (585), UT-Arlington (587), Nebraska (595) and Oklahoma Christian (600) to round out the top five.
Senior Matt Schneider went 72-76 -- 148 to sit in a tie for ninth. His 1-over par opening round ended his streak of three straight rounds under par after earning medalist honors at the BSU Cardinal Invitational last weekend by five shots.
Parker Hewit, a sophomore from Westfield, Ohio, fired a 153 (77-76) to sit in a tie for 34th. Also competing for the Orange and Brown were Wes Gates (79-75 -- 154, T-38th), Drew Preston (80-79 -- 159, T-53rd) and John Powers (86-78 -- 164, T-70th).
The third and final round begins on Tuesday morning.
