The Falcons are now 0-0-2 on the year, while the Wildcats are 1-0-1.
Three BGSU newcomers -- true freshman Zach Schewee, redshirt freshman Brandon Silva and redshirt junior Miguel Rosales -- were named to the all-tournament team.
BGSU got goals from Schewee and redshirt junior Max Weston in the match. Schewee's goal, the Falcons' first of the season, was his first collegiate score.
Alex Caskey broke a scoreless tie late in the first half, giving the host team a 1-0 lead that the Wildcats took into the intermission.
Less than five minutes into the second half, however, the Falcons equalized. Weston's corner kick found Chris Jurtovski on the far (right) side of the area. Jurtovski played the ball to his left, where Schewee blasted home a shot from 20-to-35 yards out.
George Ramsey put the hosts back in front at the 62:36 mark after intercepting a BG clearing attempt, but a long shot from Weston evened the match with under 10 minutes left in regulation.
The Falcons had a narrow 16-15 advantage in shot attempts, while DC had eight shots on goal to BGSU's seven. Rosales made six saves in his complete-match effort, while Davidson 'keeper Chip Sanders had five stops.
The Brown and Orange enjoyed a decisive 9-2 margin in corner kicks, including a 7-1 edge after halftime.
"Davidson has a great team with some very good players," said BGSU head coach Eric Nichols. "They have an extremely potent attack, as they showed in their six-goal performance on Friday night. We knew we would have our hands full, but we were organized and we kept them in check, for the most part.
"We showed a tremendous amount of character to come back twice, and then we really pushed (for a go-ahead goal) toward the end. There certainly is a lot to build upon, as we saw some very good character traits from our guys -- a lot of resilience, fight, energy and spirit.
"We played well enough defensively to win, but we are just not quite potent enough in our attack just yet. We will get back to work, though, and will start preparing for next weekend."
Sunday's match pitted Nichols' current team against his former club. He spent the 2008 season as an assistant coach on the DC staff prior to coming to BGSU in February of 2009.
Davidson won the tournament, with a win and a tie on the weekend. Appalachian State finished the tourney with a win and a tie as well, but DC won the title based on goal differential. ASU defeated the fourth school in the classic, Marist, by a 3-1 count in Sunday's second match.
The Falcons now return home to prepare for next weekend's match against the number-one team in the country, the University of Akron. The Mid-American Conference opener is scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Sept. 11) at 1:00 p.m. at Cochrane Field.
