BGSU Picked Fourth In Preseason MAC Poll

Cleveland, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University softball team was picked to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the 2011 MAC Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll.
In a split East Division vote, Miami received five first-place votes and finished first as Ohio was second with four first-place votes. Kent State earned three first-place votes and was picked third. After Bowling Green, Buffalo was selected fifth and Akron last. Ball State was picked to win the West Division, followed by Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Toledo.
Bowling Green returns eight starters from a team that finished 9-14 in MAC play a year ago, advancing to the MAC Tournament by tying for fourth place in the division. Sophomore Paige Berger broke the program's single-season homerun record a year ago in her first collegiate season and was named MAC Freshman of the Year. Sophomore Hannah Fulk also returns after being named to the All-Freshman Team.
The Falcons open play this weekend at the LSU Tiger Classic, playing five games in a three-day stretch. Bowling Green will face Louisiana Tech twice, No. 16/No. 19 LSU twice and Purdue once.
