Falcons Defeat Ball State, 3-2, In Dual Match Play Event

On Thursday (March 10) at the Rio Pixar Golf Course in Orlando, Fla., the Bowling Green State University men's golf team defeated Ball State in a match play event.
Five Falcon golfers played in individual matches against five golfers from Ball State. Two Falcons won, while two others halved their matches. The Cardinals are ranked 65th out of nearly 300 Division I teams by Golfstat; the Falcons are also ranked in the top half of the country, currently sitting at 125.
Drew Preston defeated the Cardinals' Eric Steger, 3 and 2. Wes Gates also earned a victory, downing Tyler Merkel, 5 and 4.
Parker Hewit and Chris Melvin halved their matches with T.J. Carpenter and Tony Lazzara, respectively.
Falcon freshman Spencer Berk made his long-awaited debut for BGSU, and he fell to Joe Gasser, 8 and 6.
Bowling Green returns to action in one month, at the UK Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Ky. from April 9-10.
