With the win, the Falcons improve to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in MAC action. The Eagles drop to 10-10 and 3-3, respectively.
Friday's match marked the first time this season that BGSU rallied for a win after losing the doubles point. The Eagles took the early one-point lead by winning the matches at the top-two doubles flights.
Hill and freshman Nikki Chiricosta breezed to an 8-1 win at the third flight, but EMU's Xu Chang and Georgia de'Lisle-Tarr posted an 8-4 victory over sophomore Jade Johnson and freshman Emily Reuland at flight number two.
At the top doubles flight, senior co-captain Christine Chiricosta and soph Maddy Eccleston fell behind Eastern's Nino Mebuke and Miriam Westerink, 7-3, but rallied back to within 7-6 before the EMU team picked up the narrow 8-6 victory.
In singles action, the Falcons erased the deficit and took the lead relatively quickly, thanks to the co-captains. Christine Chiricosta lost her first game to Westerink, but did not lose again, reeling off 12-straight games. Chiricosta's 6-1, 6-0 win at the top flight was the first singles match ton conclude.
Soon after, junior co-captain Jessica Easdale finished off her win over Celine Donnet at the sixth flight. Easdale lost only three games, all in the opening set of her sweep.
The Eagles got a point back, as Mebuke picked up a win over Eccleston at the second flight, but Reuland closed out her win over Marcela Rivero at the fifth level. Reuland lost only four total games (6-1, 6-3) in her win.
Chang was a winner over Nikki Chiricosta at the third flight, knotting the overall match score at 3-3 and leaving only Hill and Mariya Toncheva on the court. Toncheva had won the opening set relatively quickly, with a 6-1 verdict. But, Hill responded with a 6-3 win in the second set of their fourth-flight match. With all of the attention focused on her court, Hill won the first four games of the third set en route to a 6-1 win in the match-clinching set.
The Brown and Orange will return to the courts to face the arch-rival University of Toledo on Saturday (April 16) at 1:00 p.m. The BGSU-UT match is scheduled to be played at Keefe Courts on the BGSU campus, but could be moved to the PTC in the event of inclement weather.
