Hannah Fulk Named NFCA Second Team All-Region
May 20, 2011 | Softball
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University sophomore shortstop Hannah Fulk was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Mideast Region Second Team. She is the first Falcon softball player since Hayley Wiemer in 2008 to be selected.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association honored 259 players from 127 institutions in 10 regions, including first and second teams for each region. The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches.
Fulk, who was already selected as a Capital One First Team Academic All-District player, started all 44 of the team's games at shortstop and batted leadoff every game. She finished the year with a .321 batting average and led the team with a .427 on-base percentage. Fulk also led the Falcons with 29 runs scored and 10 doubles, while hitting four home runs. She was not thrown out in seven stolen base attempts on the season.
Fulk opened the season by being named to the LSU Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team by going 7-for-13 (.538) on the weekend and picking up a hit in each of the five games at the event. She went on to go 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI at No. 10 Michigan and was 4-for-5 with three runs scored in a win at Western Kentucky. She finished the year strong by going 3-for-3 with two doubles at Miami and then picking up three more hits in a win over Akron on the final day of the regular season.
