Bylsma Wins Jack Adams Award for Top NHL Coach

Former BGSU Falcon Dan Bylsma was named Most Outstanding NHL Coach at last night's league award ceremony.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green alum and current Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma was named the National Hockey League's (NHL) top coach last night at the league's postseason award ceremony held in Las Vegas.

Bylsma (40) led the Penguins to a fourth place finish in the Eastern Conference
The former BGSU forward beat Alain Vigneault of the Stanley Cup runner-up Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predator head coach Barry Trotz to earn the honor. Bylsma has now earned one Stanley Cup in two championship appearances, the Jack Adams Award and three playoff appearances in as many years as the Pens head coach. He has accrued a 71-56-19 (W-L-OTL) overall record since being named head coach late in the 2008-09 season.
Bylsma was a four-year player for the Falcons from 1988-92 and totaled 37 goals and 50 assists over 157 games played. He was selected by the former Winnipeg Jets in the sixth round (109th overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft but did not begin his professional career until after his time at Bowling Green. He made his NHL debut in the 1995-96 season with the Los Angeles Kings and went on the have a nine-year NHL career finishing with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 2003-04.
