January 16, 2012 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio - As part of the Office of Service Learning's (OSL) effort to have a "Day On Not A Day Off", 88 of Bowling Green State University's student-athletes participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Challenge. Members of the swimming, volleyball, softball, track and field, women's basketball, football, men's and women's golf, baseball, women's soccer and hockey teams made more than 100 fleece blankets. These blankets will be donated to the homeless in surrounding areas through the Trinity Episcopal Church of Toledo. The Trinity Episcopal Church of Toledo annually distributes approximately 500 blankets.
This is the fifth year in which the OSL has coordinated efforts to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. More than 500 BGSU students, faculty, and staff participated in the day's activities.
