The Bowling Green State University men's golf team carded a 307 on day one to sit in 11th of 17 teams at the UD Invitational, hosted by the University of Dayton. The tournament is taking place at NCR Country Club in Dayton, Ohio.
IPFW and Western Kentucky currently lead the tournament with a 295. They are followed by Dayton (296), Valparaiso (299) and Oakland (301) to round out the top five. Ohio is the only other school from the Mid-American Conference competing. The Bobcats are seventh with a 302.
BGSU was led by Joe Cooper, who shot a 73 on Monday afternoon. The sophomore is currently tied for 11th among the 100-player field. Cooper is coming off a second-place finish at the Earl Yestingsmeier Individual Invite last week.
A trio of Falcons are currently tied for 51st after round one. Wes Gates (37-41), Charlie Olson (41-37) and Holden Pahr (41-37) each fired a 78 on Monday.
Chris Melvin completed the Falcon lineup with an 82 (39-43) to sit in a tie for 82nd.
The second and final round will take place starting Tuesday morning.
