Ice Hockey Signs Three To National Letters Of Intent

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green ice hockey coach Chris Bergeron has announced the signing of three student-athletes during the fall. Bowling Green welcomes defensemen Reed Whiteside, Mark Friedman and goaltender Tomas Sholl to the Falcon hockey family. Assistant coaches Ty Eigner and Barry Schutte sat down with BGSUFalcons.com to discuss what each player brings to Bowling Green. All videos can be found below.
Reed Whiteside | Defenseman
Reed Whiteside (Trenton, Mich.) has played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League in parts of the past two seasons, compiling two penalty minutes in 18 career games. Whiteside helped the Stampede to 17 wins last season.
Tomas Sholl | Goalie
Height: 6.1 | Weight: 175 lbs
Tomas Sholl (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) spent last season (and seven games in 2012-13) with the Fresno Monsters of the North American Hockey League. While with Fresno, Sholl has appeared in 47 games, compiling a record of 21-18-8. With seven games under his belt this season, Sholl carries a .920 save percentage, the same figure he earned in 40 games last season. Sholl boasted a 2.38 goals against average last season, and currently carries a 2.52 goals against average in 2012-13. Sholl has two career shutouts in NAHL play.
Mark Friedman | Defenseman
DOB: Dec. 25 1995 | Toronto, Ontario
Height: 5.10 | Weight: 180 lbs
Mark Friedman (Toronto, Ontario) will come to Bowling Green following the 2012-13 season. Friedman currently plays for the Waterloo Blackhawks of the United States Hockey League, where he ranks second among defensemen in scoring with 10 points. Prior to this season, Friedman played two seasons for the North York Rangers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. As a Ranger, Friedman compiled 27 points in 50 games played, and led North York in defensive scoring in 2011-12. In four career OJHL playoff games, Friedman has scored one goal and added three assists.
