November 27, 2012 | Softball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. -- The Bowling Green State University softball team concluded its fall signings earlier this week, adding eight new players that will be ready for the 2013-14 school year. Bowling Green welcomes Laramie Abbruzzese, Chelsea Raker, Madison Schrock, Haley Schrock, Aspen Searle, Sami Parave, Trista Mokienko and Amanda Durham to the Falcon softball family.
Laramie Abbruzzese
Laramie Abbruzzese comes to Bowling Green from Upper Arlington, Ohio. Abbruzzese is an outfielder, that plays for Todd Delboccio at Upper Arlington High School, where she led the team in batting, hits, stolen bases, on-base percentage and runs the past two seasons. Abbruzzese plays travel ball for the Ohio Nightmare 18U Gold.
"Laramie is an exciting addition to our program, and is hands down the fastest player we have had during my time at BG. She is lightning fast which will be a tremendous asset both offensively and in the outfield. I expect Laramie to compete for a spot at the top of the line-up, as she is a potential table setter for our power hitters. Laramie loves to play the game and I can't wait to see her in the Orange and Brown in the fall."
Chelsea Raker
Chelsea Raker is a corner infielder, most recently playing at Westerville South High School of the Ohio-Cardinal Conference. Raker was voted offensive MVP last season, while also earning first-team all conference honors. Raker played travel ball for Ohio Nightmare 18U Gold.
"Chelsea is an outstanding addition to our softball family. If I had to describe Chelsea in one word it would simply be POWERFUL. Chelsea will instantly help our offense as she is a true power hitter with the ability to drive in runs." The aspect of Chelsea's game that often gets over looked is her defense, but we expect her to compete immediately for a starting role.
Madison Schrock & Haley Schrock
Madison Schrock, an infielder, comes to Bowling Green from Northridge High School. Individually, Madison is a two-time all-conference selection, and holds Northridge's single-season record for runs (46) and doubles (16).
Haley Schrock also comes from Middlebury, Ind, playing out of Northridge High School. Haley was a first-team all-conference and all-district selection last year, batting .500 on the season. Haley holds Northridge's single-season and career record for home runs.
The sisters helped their high school team to a 30-2 record last season, winning conference, sectional and regional championships. Both played travel ball for 18U Indy Dreams Montgomery.
"I am excited to add Madison into our fold. She comes to BG with her twin sister, Haley. Madison is an infielder by trade. She is a scrappy player who simply finds a way to get the job done. Offensively I see a ton of potential in Madison and I look forward to seeing where her hard work can take her."
Aspen Searle
Aspen Searle is a middle-infielder, joining the Orange and Brown after representing her province at the 16U, 18U and 21U Canadian National Championships. Searle was named an All-star at second base for the 2012 18U Canadian National Championships.
"Aspen is an excellent addition to our softball family. She is a tenacious player who will come in and compete right away in the middle infield. Aspen plays the game hard and her softball IQ is outstanding. Aspen has competed at the highest level in Canada, and I look forward to watching her grow and develop here at BG.
Sami Parave
Sam Parave, an outfielder, comes to Bowling Green after playing at William Mason High School of the Southwest-Ohio District. Parave is a three-year varsity starter, earning second team all-conference honors last season. Parave plays travel ball for the Cincy Doom 18U Gold.
"Sami is an important addition to our 2013 class because she is an outstanding outfielder with a canon for an arm. Sami is also a tough out. I am excited to add her to our offensive arsenal as she adds a dimension we haven't had during my time at BG, a power slapper. Sami has the potential to keep defenses guessing, and I expect her to be a big part of our team."
Trista Mokienko
Trista Mokienko currenty plays at Delsea Regional High School, splitting time with her travel team, the Jersey Jaguars.
"Trista is a dynamic addition to our class. She is very athletic with the ability to play multiple positions. Trista is a feisty competitor and I expect her to come in and fight instantly for a spot. Offensively, she is an explosive player both at the plate and on the bases. I can't wait to see her in the Orange and Brown."
Amanda Durham

Amanda Durham currenty plays at St. John Vianney High School, splitting time with her travel team, the New Jersey Nightmare.
"If Laramie (Abbruzzese) is the fastest player to play at BG during my tenure, then Amanda is right behind her. Amanda is a speedster with the potential to hit for power and average. She is one heck of a ball player, but my favorite attribute is her ferocious competitive streak. Amanda will fight for playing time immediately and I couldn't be more excited to have her in our family"
