Danny Baraldi Named to All-Great Lakes Region Team
December 11, 2012 | Men's Soccer
Baraldi is the first BGSU player to earn NSCAA all-region honors since 2001.
A native of Canton, Ohio (Massillon Jackson H.S.), Baraldi ranked second on the Falcons in scoring, with 19 points on the season. He had six goals and a team-leading seven assists en route to All-Mid-American Conference First-Team honors in 2012.
Baraldi scored two game-winning goals in '12, recording the winner in the season opener vs. Saint Bonaventure, and scoring a 'Golden Goal' vs. Milwaukee. He had two goals in the Falcons' tie on the road against nationally-ranked Coastal Carolina, and also found the net in the Western Michigan and Florida matches. Baraldi had two assists in the Falcons' road win against Michigan, including a helper on Anthony Grant's winner, and also had assists on the game-winning goals vs. WMU and FAU.
Through two years with the Falcons, Baraldi is on a point-per-match scoring pace, with 37 career points in 37 matches. He led the Falcons with 18 points on five goals and eight assists as a freshman in 2011.
The last BGSU player to earn all-region honors was Tony Malik in 2001. The Falcons had at least one player named to the NSCAA all-region team in each of 24 consecutive seasons, from 1978-2001.
The Falcons finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 8-9-3, and BGSU ended MAC regular-season play with a 3-3-1 league mark. BG advanced to the semifinals of the MAC Tournament before falling to top-seeded Akron on the road.
