Softball Takes On Eastern Michigan And Central Michigan In Home MAC Play

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. -- The Bowling Green State University softball team will battle MAC foes Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan this weekend, marking the first MAC play of the season at Meserve Field. The Falcons are fresh off a split with Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, defeating the Titans 6-4 in game one, before falling 3-1 in the second contest. Bowling Green was 0-2 against Eastern Michigan last season, falling to the Eagles 0-1 and 1-4 on the road. Bowling Green was also winless against Central Michigan last year, with the Chippewas outscoring the Falcons 17-5 over a two game set.
The Falcons are on a four-game losing streak to Eastern Michigan, with the last Bowling Green victory coming on March 3, 2009, a 6-3 win on the road. The Falcons lead the all-time series, holding a 47-39 advantage over the Eagles. The Falcons are on a two-game losing streak to Central Michigan, with the last Bowling Green victory coming on April 2, 2010, a 3-2 win at Meserve Field. The Falcons are 19-66 all-time against the Chippewas.
- Junior Hannah Fulk leads Bowling Green with 31 runs scored this season. Fulk led the Falcons in runs score last season, crossing the plate 29 times last season. Amy Lienhardt holds the Bowling Green record for runs scored in a season with 57, set back in 1988.
- Junior Andrea Arney's 34 RBI ties her for eigth on the all-time mark for runs batted in for a single season. Arney needs one more RBI to pass Allison Vallas, who recorded 34 RBI back in 2005.
- Freshmen pitchers Paris Imholz and Jamie Kertes both have 10 wins this season, marking the first time since 2007 that two different BG pitchers collected at least 10 wins. Hayley Weimer (17) and Emily Gouge (14) were the last two Falcon pitchers to earn at least 10 wins in the same season.
- Before the Falcons 3-1 loss to Detroit Wednesday, Bowling Green had been riding a three-game win streak, tying their season high. The Falcons have recorded three separate three-game win streaks this season.
- Eastern Michigan's 3.43 ERA ranks seventh in the MAC, with the Eagles' pitching staff holding opposing hitters to a .269 average in conference games, which is good enough for sixth in the MAC.
- Senior Jessica Richards leads the MAC in stolen bases with 11 this season.
- The Eagles are currently tied for third in the MAC West Division after going 1-3 last weekend, splitting with Northern Illinois before being swept by Western Michigan at home. The Eagles' .222 batting average in conference play is 11th in the MAC.

- CMU has run ruled the opposing team five times this season, the latest coming against Oakland on Tuesday, 9-1.
- Central Michigan is 12-0 this season when scoring more than six runs, and 16-3 when it produces three or more runs.
