Softball Set To Battle Kent State And Buffalo On The Road

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. -- The Bowling Green State University softball team fell to Valparaiso Wednesday afternoon in both games of their doubleheader. The Falcons lost to the Crusaders 4-0 in the first game, before falling 5-0 in the second contest. Bowling Green will now take on Kent State in a doubleheader Friday, before taking on Buffalo in a two-game set spanning Saturday and Sunday.
The Falcons went 0-2 against Kent State last season, with the Golden Flashes outscoring Bowling Green 13-3 in the season series. Buffalo also swept their doubleheader last season, outscoring the Falcons 12-1 in two games. Bowling Green is currently 3-1 in the MAC, and is tied with Ohio (3-1) and Kent State (3-1) for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Falcons trail Kent State 43-54-1 in the all-time series, while holding the 16-7 all-time win advantage over Buffalo.
- Bowling Green's 22 home runs rank second in the MAC, trailing only Ball State (31).
- Freshmen pitchers Jamie Kertes and Paris Imholz are tied for first in the MAC with two saves. Both have also pitched five complete games.
- Senior Melissa West leads the Falcons with seven sacrifice hits.
- Junior Hannah Fulk's 27 runs scored leads Bowling Green, and ranks in the top five in the conference. Fulk's 26 walks also rank first in the MAC. Fulk was held without a walk in the doubleheader against Valparaiso, snapping her six-game walk streak.
- Junior Andrea Arney leads the Falcons and the conference with 29 RBI.
- The losses to Valparaiso mark only the second and third time this season Bowling Green has been shutout, and the first back-to-back shutouts of the season. The only other time this season the Falcons have been held scoreless was on March 17, in a 2-0 loss to Albany State.
