A Pair of Falcons Set to Compete in The Pure Silk Championship

Bailey Arnold and Shelby Wilson, two members of the Bowling Green State University women's golf team, will be competing in the third annual Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship from July 31 - Aug. 2 at the Wedgewood Golf and Country Club in Powell, Ohio.
More than 50 two-person teams will be competing comprised of top current women's collegiate golfers. Each team will pair players from the same university in a 54-hole stroke play event.
The format of the Championship is Day 1 (July 31): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 1): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 2): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including Division I, II and III programs.
Arnold averaged 79.48 through 23 rounds of action last season and owns a career scoring average of 79.67, the lowest career scoring average in school history among players with at least 40 rounds of play. This past year Arnold won the Redbird Invitational by scoring a 222 (76-74-72). She added an 11th place finish at the Cleveland State Invite (77-81) and shot 162 (84-78) to finish 16th at the Zippy Invite.
Wilson had one of BGSU's finest seasons, freshman or otherwise in 2011-12. She averaged 78.70, the second-lowest freshman scoring average in school history and fourth-lowest all-time in Falcon history. She finished 11th in her first tournament as a Falcon, carding a 229 (72-77-80) at the Redbird Invite. She added a seventh-place finish at the EKU Colonel Classic, which included a 1-under 71, the third lowest round in school history. She arguably had her best performance of the season at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational with a 155 (76-79).

On Monday, July 30, a Collegiate-Amateur Golf event will take place, beginning with a 2:30 P.M. Shotgun Start. Proceeds from this event will benefit A Kid Again, an Ohio based charity that provides fun-filled group activities for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. These activities foster laughter, normalcy and a supportive networking opportunities, encouraging positive attitudes and promoting improved health for all.
Tickets to the Team Championship are free and open to the public. Play will begin daily at 7:30am with tee times starting on both #1 and #10.
