Falcon Club Spotlight: Tom Shehab

Each month, the BGSU Department of Athletics highlights a Falcon Club member, providing an opportunity to get to know them. For July, Tom Shehab has been chosen. Tom is a 1990 BGSU graduate who lettered as a lineman on the football team.

Occupation: Physician Executive – Gastroenterologist; Chief of Staff-Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Ann Arbor, MI; Chairman of Internal Medicine, Integrated Health Associates (IHA)
Hometown: Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan
Current Residence: Dexter, Michigan
Childhood Ambition: To be a physician
Fondest Memory of BGSU Athletics: First night football game in 1989. Temporary lights were brought in and there was a tremendous level of excitement on campus and in the athletic department.
Proudest Moment: Getting married to Jos and the births of our three kids.
Biggest Challenge: Not weighing what I weighed as a lineman at BG.
The Perfect Day: Morning run, Day of productive meetings/mentoring and dinner with family.
First Job: Restaurant Dishwasher
Inspiration: We are judged by how we treat the least among us.
Biggest Idol: My Mom and Dad- Roy and Beverly Shehab.
Favorite BGSU Athlete ever: Ali Mann -- Our family watched her play basketball in high school and throughout her college career.
Dream Job: US Senator
If you could be friends with anyone in the world, it would be: Warren Buffett
Favorite thing about BGSU: 25 years of mentorship and friendship from Dr Lee Meserve (Biology).
Three items you can't live without: Morning coffee, iPhone and Newspaper
Dream Vacation: To spend a month in Europe with my family.
Biggest Life Aspiration: To see our kids grow into caring and successful adults.

Proudest Accomplishment: Bowling Green Athletic Department Distinguished Alumnus Award
Favorite Food: Middle Eastern Food
Something others may not know about me: My family thinks I know too much useless trivia.
Supporting the Falcon Club is important to me because: I truly believe in what the experience of being a scholar-athlete does to help develop a young person into a leader.
