BGSU Athletics Launches The Campaign For Twenty Won
March 18, 2021 | General, Falcon Club
In partnership with BGSU University Advancement, Director of Athletics, Bob Moosbrugger, today announced the "Campaign for Twenty Won", the annual fund campaign for the Falcon Club for the 2021-22 academic year. The goal for this year's fund campaign is to help the athletics department navigate the financial ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic while positioning all Falcon student-athletes for future success.
"When I came home to Bowling Green I saw promise, and a University that was ready to win it right. I knew that if we were 'all in this together', we could achieve great things," Moosbrugger said. "We have faced the financial crisis from the COVID-19 pandemic with strong fiscal responsibility while attempting to provide a great student-athlete experience. To keep moving BGSU Athletics forward, we need everyone together pushing toward our mission. With the generous help of our fans, past supporters, letter winners, and members of the greater Bowling Green community, we will attain all of our ambitions. A successful 'Campaign for Twenty Won' is critical to the future of BGSU Athletics."
BGSU Athletics is one of the most efficiently run Division I, Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) athletics departments in the nation. BGSU is one of 16 FBS programs with both football and men's hockey. Falcon Club memberships aim to help fund the $7 million scholarship bill for student-athletes, and this campaign has a goal of at least $1 million in the next 12 months, which will help offset a potential BGSU Athletics shortfall that could approach or exceed $3 million in the current fiscal year
"The 'Campaign for Twenty Won' is the top fundraising priority for BGSU Athletics," Moosbruger says. "Since COVID-19, I continue to be amazed and humbled by the support of everyone who calls themselves a Falcon. A championship program needs championship resources. While we pride ourselves on doing more with less, enhancing the resources for the student-athlete experience will aid us in achieving the holistic development of young men and women while competing for MAC and CCHA championships."
Falcons are strongly encouraged to renew, or start, their annual Falcon Club membership by making a qualifying contribution to the Campaign for Twenty Won during the University-wide BGSU One Day, April 6-7. Gifts can be made immediately, though, through the rebranded campaign website www.bgsufalcons.com/supportfalconclub. While an immediate gift will initiate your Falcon Club membership for the upcoming year, the proximity of BGSU's One Day of Giving, and that initiative's goal of $1 million, could make for a great alignment between these two critical initiatives. Through your support of the Falcon Club, you can help provide scholarship opportunities for the next great basketball star like Justin Turner or the next NCAA qualifier like cross country runner Kailee Perry.
"Supporters of Falcon Athletics have a unique opportunity to set up their membership for the upcoming Falcon Club year AND to participate in BGSU One Day with one transaction on April 6-7," Senior Associate Athletics Director Dan Meyer said. "What an exciting way to kick off our Athletics campaign, while supporting this critical University initiative!"
