Carpenter, Pleger Named Pizza Hut Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Pizza Hut Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Ryan Carpenter and track and field athlete Brooke Pleger
Male Athlete of the Week
Ryan Carpenter, a sophomore from Oviedo, Fla., helped the Falcons to wins over No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 10 Western Michigan this week. Over a three-game span, Carpenter scored three goals, including the game-winner against Notre Dame. Combined with an assist, Carpenter had four points and finished the week with a plus-5 on-ice rating and two blocked shots.
Female Athlete of the Week
Brooke Pleger, a redshirt sophomore from Saline, Mich., won the weight throw and set a personal best for the third consecutive meet. Her throw of 61-feet-10.25 was more than four feet further than any other competitor at Michigan's Harvey-Simmons Invitational Saturday. She bested her previous toss of 61-7 set just a week ago
