Falcon Soccer Programs Earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards Again
November 21, 2013 | Men's Soccer, Women's Soccer
The NSCAA Team Academic Award is given to soccer programs that have achieved a minimum team grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The BGSU women's soccer program earns the honor for the fourth time in five years, and the Falcons had one of the top team GPAs in the nation for the second-straight year. BG had a stellar team GPA of 3.50 during the '12-13 academic year, ranking among the top-20 NCAA Division-I programs in the country. The Falcons are currently under the direction of head coach Lindsay Basalyga, who was hired in December of 2012.
The BGSU men's program of head coach Eric Nichols was also recognized, with a GPA of 3.06 in 2012-13. Nichols' team was recognized for the fourth consecutive season, and the men's soccer Falcons made the list for the sixth time overall.
A total of 862 college soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) across all divisions posted a team GPA of 3.00 or higher and were honored by the NSCAA this season. BGSU was one of 184 schools to have both their men's and women's programs recognized.
