Gates Named MAC Golfer of the Week

For the second time this season, Bowling Green State University's Wes Gates was named Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
Gates earned the honor after finishing first at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational with a 54-hole score of 213. Gates took a three shot lead into the final round after opening with a 67-71 and concluded the tournament with a 75 on Tuesday.
The win was Gates' third of the season, establishing a new BGSU record for tournament wins in a single season. The senior is also now tied with Matt Schneider for the most tournament wins in a Falcon career.
According to www.mac-sports.com, Gates ranks third in the conference with a 72.88 scoring average.
