The Bowling Green State University men's golf team fired a 36-hole score of 608 (307-301) to sit in ninth after day one of the Rutherford Intercollegiate. BGSU won the event last season.
Maryland is the clubhouse leader after Saturday's action with a 589. Penn State, the host of the event is second (598), followed by Minnesota (600) to round out the top three. Ohio was the only other school from the Mid-American Conference competing. The Bobcats are in 10th with a 615.
Leading the way for the Orange and Brown was newcomer Ryan Triller. The former Mount St. Mary's product sits in a tie for seventh with a 148 (73-75). A total of 74 players are competing in the two day event.
Wes Gates, coming off his third win of the year (and a MAC Golfer of the Week award) at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational, is tied for 31st with a 153 (78-75). Cooper, who finished the previous tournament in second-place, is tied with Gates for 31st with the same 153 (74-79).
Also competing for Bowling Green were Holden Pahr (154, T-39th) and Josh Bialecki (165, 70th).
The third and final round begins Sunday morning.
