Falcons Climb Two Spots; Finish Seventh at Rutherford Invite

The Bowling Green State University men's golf team shot the sixth-lowest final round of the afternoon, carding a 300 to climb two spot on the final day of the Rutherford Intercollegiate. BGSU finished seventh in the 14-team field with a 54-hole score of 908 (307-301-300).
Binghamton won the event with an 890, edging Xavier by five strokes (895). Binghamton won last week's Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational, an event the Falcons finished second at. Other teams that finished ahead of the Orange and Brown were Minnesota (896), Penn State (896), Maryland (897) and Connecticut (900). Ohio, the only other school from the Mid-American Conference, ended 10th with 920.
BGSU was led by Ryan Triller, who finished tied for seventh with a 222 (73-75-74), the second-lowest 54-hole score of his career. His seventh-place finish is his best as a Falcon.
Wes Gates improved from round to round. After opening with a disappointing 78, the senior rebounded nicely with a 75 and 73. Gates would finish tied for 22nd among the 72-player field.
Also competing for BGSU were Holden Pahr (230, T-34th), Joe Cooper (231, 39th), and Josh Bialecki (242, T-64th).
This concludes the Falcons regular season schedule. BGSU will next hit the links on May 3-5 at the MAC Championships.
